High Peak Indoor Bowling

The sport of bowling in Derbyshire,UK is traditionally played on the grass surface of outdoor crown greens during the summer. Teams from the towns and villages of the High Peak compete in several local leagues: Buxton & District, Longdendale, Matlock & District, North Derbyshire and Stockport & District.

Bowling in the winter on indoor mats is increasing in popularity. In 2008 HPIB acquired National Lottery funding to "upgrade equipment and coaching in order to improve members' skills and facilitate greater participation from the wider community".

HPIB has a maximum of twenty four teams in leagues playing on Friday evenings (6:00pm & 8:00pm) and Saturday mornings (9:15am & 11:15am). Teams of four, each player with two bowls, compete on three separate long mats in the sports hall at the Chapel Leisure Centre, Chapel-en-le-Frith.

High Peak is a borough in the Peak District of Derbyshire, UK.

Chapel-en-le-Frith is six miles to the north of Buxton.
